Hollywood's biggest night rolled around last night, and it didn't disappoint as the industry’s best and brightest sartorial event.

Haute couture and star power combined to create a glamorous red carpet experience and put out an endless parade of old-school glamour and sophistication.

We must commend those who've managed to navigate through the sartorial maze of style with excess flair. It's very easy to go the route of your typical black three-piece tux or just any fancy dress, so when they turn up in something remotely unique it's always something to be excited about.

Having said that, here are our picks of best outfits of the evening.

Akin's Picks:

Oscars: Chris Evans
Oscars: Terrence Howard
Oscars: Ryan Gosling
Ryan Gosling owned it by channelling his inner classic man in this Gucci tux. The textured lapel and ruffles on the shirt just makes the whole outfit!
Oscars: Mahershala Ali
Mahershala Ali absolutely killed any and everything in this all black ensemble from Ermenegildo Zegna Couture.
Oscars: Andrew Garfield
Andrew Garfield is living proof that you can absolutely look your best in Tom Ford. Simple and chic, he didn't go for the extraordinary and he absolutely killed it. For tux virgins, this is what it should look like. (Frazer Harrison/Getty Images).
Oscars: Dev Patel
Dev Patel looked clean and grown up in this Ivory Burberry dinner jacket. (Getty Images).
Oscars: Tarell Alvin McCraney
This is a nearly impossible one to pull off. 99.9% of people who try this fail, but I must commend Tarell Alvin McCraney on killing this all white/ivory look.
Oscars: Casey Affleck
Although Casey Affleck looked very sharp in this classic tuxedo, I've picked him simply because of the facial hair. It added that gritty, quintessential manliness to his look, which I loved.
Lorietta's Picks:
Oscars: Priyanka Chopra
The simplicity, and symmetry, of Priyanka Chopra's Ralph & Russo dress is nothing short of amazing.
Oscars: Taraji P Henson
What's a red carpet event without your dose of class? Taraji P. Henson kept it extremely classy in this Alberta Ferretti thigh slit dress that gave her the right amount of oomph. The way she accessorized made the entire outfit! Way to go Taraji!
Oscars: Janelle Monae
Now, Janelle Monae is known to make good statements with her red carpet outfits, but this time, she killed it with this Elie Saab beauty! The intricacy is impeccable! Not only is she beautiful, but the dress befitted her and the occasion.
Oscars: Chrissy Teigen
Chrissy Teigen always has the tendency to look sophisticated on the red carpet, and this was no different. She looked flawless in this Zuhair Murad dress and had a well-balanced look.
Oscars: Viola Davis
Viola Davis graced the red carpet with her presence in this red Armani dress. Although this what you'd expect for an event of this caliber, she looked graceful and the dress features one of the it trends now - open/cold shoulder (Score!)
Oscars: Kirsten Dunst
Black is always beautiful and flattering! But this Dior couture dress looked stunning on Kirsten Dunst. She reminded me so much of a Barbie doll - in a good way.
Oscars: Olivia Culpo
Olivia Culpo decided to give us a shot of nostalgia with this '20s inspired flapper dress by Marchesa.
Oscars: Ava DuVernay
The colour, the details, the hair, and Ava DuVernay herself... Everything worked with this look.
Oscars: Karlie Kloss
For some, this might be a good old plain dress, which is the case here. But, sometimes, you can win with a plain dress, and Karlie Kloss prove that right with this Stella McCartney piece. I love how the makeup was kept classy, and the choker served as the statement piece. New Formula: Plain Outfit + Classy Makeup + Statement Piece = Wow! Factor.

Oscars: Charlize Theron
I love how Charlize Theron opted to use her metallic Dior couture dress and Chopard earrings to make the right statement. Anything more would have certainly been an overkill.

Oscars: Hailee Steinfeld

Oscars: Sofia Carson
